Biography
As the second member of the firm, joining in 1999, Laura is the “go-to” attorney for intellectual property and administrative law, she also thrives on learning about client businesses and practicing in the wide variety of legal work presented by the firm’s business clients.
Laura developed her legal experience and entrepreneurial spirit through private practice – striking out on her own immediately after receiving her law license and then later joining Klevatt & Associates, LLC. Her work as Administrative Law Judge for the City of Chicago’s Department of Administrative Hearings since the Department’s inception in 1997 and as a veteran hearing officer for the City’s Human Resources Board continually calls upon her ability to sort out facts, resolve issues, communicate clearly and help others make decisions.
A juris doctor from Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law, Laura received a Certificate1 in International and Comparative Law and competed on two of the school’s national trial advocacy teams. During that time, she also studied law in Russia and Poland, receiving a Diploma from the University of San Diego International Law Institute. She served as president for the Chicago Kent Association of Trial Lawyers of America and as a research assistant studying law school clinical programs.
Professional development and commitment to the community are important to Laura. She periodically serves on the Board of Directors for charitable, education, professional and arts organizations and is involved in and has taught seminars for professional organizations such as Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, National Association of Administrative Law Judges and Illinois Association of Administrative Law Judges. Laura is also a member of SAG-AFTRA.
